| It was not long before the team bonded together. We knew we had to for the benefit of the whole project. This was not an holiday and the challenges for us all demanded our best efforts. We had all seen Africa on TV but this project meant we were actually going and also to be part of something really worth while. | We received the most amazing
welcome. There was a huge banner hanging over the road and the entrance
to the village saying welcome and everybody wanted to shake our hands

| As we walked around the town we could see the vast differences between our two cultures. Families of around 12 were living, eating and sleeping in two roomed houses. Children had to fetch water and firewood before they went to school. Some did not have a school to go to. Life looks very hard compared to our own. | I really enjoyed the entertainment...drums
beating loudly, people singing and dancing....you could tell that they
all had real talent. The children were unbelievable

| The closing ceremony and handing over of the school made me feel very proud of what we had achieved. We had come a long way over the past few months but now it was all worth the effort. The spirit of the day was extraordinary. The love and friendship that we shared was very sincere. | This trip showed me the value
of such things as family and friends and everything we have. Even if
material things went away I still have my family. I have learnt so much
about myself this past two weeks.

| With very little hard work we achieved something, which would affect the lives of these people for many years to come. It was well worth the hardships of two weeks on a diet of chicken and rice and the continuous cravings for chocolate and junk food. I have also unforgettable memories made special by the group I went with. |
I forced myself to scrutinise
my own life as well as the society and world I live in.In many ways I
am still processing the information and numerous questions the trip provoked.
