Abordahi Teachers Block

The teachers accommodation block is now well on its way.

The eight family flats and school store should hopefully be finished for the new year.

Recent funding from Warwick school as ensured further progress. As can be seen by the photo on the right, the community of Abordahi are doing all they can to help. These women are supplying the hand made bricks, made on site, for the local builders.

The need for the teachers block follows the great success of the recently build school provided by Ghana Outlook in 2003. The number of pupils has increased to over 300 and therefore as a consequence as the need for teachers.

Abordahi is situated well away from any main town and the main road. Teachers traveling from Ho had  a 45 min bus ride and then a 45 min walk through the bush to reach the school. Matters were made worse in the wet season when the amount of water made walking very difficult and un pleasant.

The other positive problem was the lack of decent accommodation for teacher and their families in Abordahi. If the community and Ghana Outlook, along with the Municipal Assembly  were to encourage and keep teachers at Abordahi, something had to be done to make their stay pleasurable.

The photo in the middle shows two members of Ghana Outlook discussing the progress of the project

The bottom photo shows the local building at work. Once up to the roof level the Municipal assembly will provide the roofing materials.

Ghana Outlook in addition to the teachers accommodation block have also provided the following facilities for Abordahi

School

Water borehole

Toilet block
